Depression in older adults: collaborative care model seems effective
S. Gilbody
Evid Based Ment Health 2008 11: 44.

web only notes 11/2/44

Although the mean number of symptoms on the SCID at baseline was 5.8, a score that would indicate major depression, it is not clear what proportion of people in both groups scored 5 or more on the SCID at baseline. Analyses were adjusted for SCID score 5 at baseline, gender, and age. Analyses for the primary outcome were carried out on both an intention-to-treat basis, assuming that missing data were adverse outcomes, and on a completer basis. The intention-to-treat results were still significant. As the authors suggest, generalisability may be limited, as only one primary care trust was included and only one community psychiatric nurse delivered the intervention.
